What Is The Traditional King Cake Of Mardi Gras?
The traditional King Cake of Mardi Gras is a cake made of cinnamon dough, twisted into a braided ring shape and decorated with purple, green, and gold sugar or icing. The cake typically contains a small plastic baby, which is said to represent the baby Jesus, and whoever finds it in their slice is considered to have good luck and must provide the next cake. The King Cake is a symbol of the Carnival season and is eaten between January 6th, known as Twelfth Night, and Mardi Gras, which is the day before Ash Wednesday.
