Whats Is Tequila Made Out Of?
Tequila is made out of the blue agave plant. The heart of the agave, also known as the piƱa, is harvested and cooked to convert the starchy carbohydrates into fermentable sugars. These sugars are then extracted and fermented into alcohol, which is then distilled and aged to create tequila. By law, tequila must be made in designated regions of Mexico, primarily in the state of Jalisco.
