Does Steam Melt Polyester?
No, steam does not melt polyester. Polyester is a synthetic polymer that has a high melting point of around 482°F (250°C). Steam, which is typically produced at temperatures below 212°F (100°C), does not generate enough heat to melt polyester. In fact, steam is often used to remove wrinkles and creases from polyester fabrics without damaging them. However, excessive heat, such as that from an iron or a clothes dryer, can melt or damage polyester.
