What Is Blanching Corn?
Blanching corn is the process of briefly boiling or steaming fresh corn on the cob for a few minutes before storing, freezing, or further cooking. This process helps to stop enzyme activity that would otherwise cause the corn to deteriorate quickly, retain its sweetness, flavour, and bright colour, makes it easier to remove the corn kernels from the cob, and ensures that the corn is safe to consume. Blanching corn is a common pre-processing step for preserving corn for long-term use.
