Is Yogurt And Curd Same?
Yogurt and curd are both fermented milk products, but they are not the same. Yogurt is made by fermenting milk with specific bacterial cultures, mainly Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus, whereas curd is made by adding a bacterial culture or curd culture to warm milk and allowing it to ferment for several hours until it thickens. Yogurt has a smooth, creamy texture and a tangy taste, while curd is thicker and slightly sour in taste. Furthermore, yogurt is commonly consumed as a snack or breakfast food, while curd is used as a staple dairy product in many Indian and South Asian cuisines.
