What Is Italian Wedding Soup Called In Italy?
Italian Wedding Soup, as popularly known in the United States, is not traditionally referred to by the same name in Italy. In Italian, it is called “Minestra Maritata” which translates to “Married Soup.” The name derives from the way the flavors of the meatballs and greens are said to blend together like a married couple. However, Italian Wedding Soup is not a common dish in Italy and is more of an Italian-American creation.
