What Toxins Are In Wine?
Wine contains several toxins, including sulfites, pesticides, fungicides, and heavy metals such as arsenic and lead. While sulfites are naturally occurring compounds during the fermentation process, they can also be added as preservatives. Pesticides and fungicides are used in grape cultivation to prevent crop damages due to insects and fungal infections. Heavy metals can leach into wine from the soil, and the levels can be higher in wines from certain regions. However, the levels of these toxins in wine are generally low and considered safe for consumption when consumed in moderation.
