What Is Corned Beef Made From?
Corned beef is made from beef brisket that has been cured or pickled in a brine of water, salt, spices, and often sodium nitrite for several days. The name “corned beef” comes from the coarse “corns” of salt used in the curing process. Once fully cured, the meat is cooked by boiling, braising, or in a slow cooker and can be served hot or cold.
