Why Do They Call It An Airline Chicken Breast?
The term “airline chicken breast” comes from the days when air travel was luxurious and fancy, and meals served on planes were a big deal. The cut of chicken was specifically chosen to be easy to prepare in advance and reheat on the plane, while still being moist and flavorful. The boneless, skin-on chicken breast with the tip of the wing attached was said to resemble the shape of an airplane wing, leading to the name “airline chicken breast.” Today, the term continues to be used to describe this particular cut of chicken, even though airline meals are no longer quite so glamorous.
