Why Is Jello Called Salad?
Jello is called salad because when it was first introduced, it was often paired with fruit or vegetables and served in a molded form. This combination of Jello and other ingredients became known as Jello salad, and the name stuck. Over time, other variations of Jello-based salads were created, some incorporating savory ingredients like cheese or meat, while others remained focused on the sweet, fruity taste of Jello. Today, Jello salad is still a popular dish at many gatherings and potlucks, and the term has become synonymous with any type of gelatin-based salad dish.
