Why Are Hasselback Potatoes Called That?
Hasselback potatoes are called that because they were invented by a Swedish chef named Leif Elisson who worked at the Hasselbacken restaurant in Stockholm in the 1950s. The potatoes are sliced thinly, but not all the way through, and then seasoned and baked to create a delicious crunchy texture. The dish became popular in Sweden and eventually spread to other countries, leading to its name being associated with the restaurant that invented it.
