What Is Tequila Alcohol Made Of?
Tequila alcohol is made from the blue agave plant, which is native to Mexico. The heart of the plant, called the piña, is harvested and roasted to break down the complex sugars into simple sugars which can be fermented and distilled to create tequila. The finished product must contain at least 51% agave to be considered tequila, with the remaining amount typically being made up of other sugars, such as cane sugar.
