Can I Make Brown Sugar Without Molasses?
Brown sugar is usually made by mixing granulated sugar with molasses, which gives it its characteristic brown color and flavor. If you don’t have molasses, you can still make a substitute by combining 1 cup of granulated sugar with 2 tablespoons of honey, maple syrup, or dark corn syrup. Although this won’t have the exact same flavor as brown sugar made with molasses, it will work as a substitute in most recipes.
