How Soda Bread Was Traditionally Made?
Soda bread was traditionally made by mixing flour (usually wholemeal), baking soda, salt, and buttermilk to form a dough. The dough was then shaped into a circular loaf with a cross on top, which helped it to cook evenly. It was baked in a cast-iron pot over an open fire or in an oven. The result was a dense bread with a hard crust, which was a staple food in Ireland for hundreds of years.
