What Happens If You Refreeze Thawed Breast Milk?
Refreezing thawed breast milk is not recommended as it can damage the milk’s nutrients and increase the risk of contamination from bacteria. When breast milk is thawed, its proteins and fats may separate, and refreezing can cause further deterioration in its quality. Additionally, repeated cycles of thawing and refreezing can increase the risk of bacterial growth, leading to illness in infants. It is therefore advised to use thawed breast milk within 24 hours and discard any unused milk.
