Is Quinoa Cooked The Same As Rice?
Quinoa is cooked in a similar way to rice, but usually requires less water and less cooking time. It is first rinsed thoroughly in cold water to remove any bitterness, then simmered in a covered pot with a ratio of one part quinoa to two parts liquid (water or broth) for about 15-20 minutes, or until the liquid is absorbed and the quinoa is tender. Unlike rice, it should not be overcooked or it may become mushy.
