How Do You Soften Brown Rice?
To soften brown rice, first wash the rice thoroughly with cold water. Then, soak the rice in a bowl of water for 30 minutes to an hour. Drain the soaking water and add fresh water to the pot with a 2:1 water to rice ratio. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer the rice for 35 to 40 minutes. Keep the lid on the pot to prevent the steam from escaping. Fluff the rice with a fork and let it sit for 5 minutes before serving.
