How Far In Advance Can You Buttercream A Cake?
Buttercream can be made and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. When it comes to frosting a cake, it’s best to do it as close to the time of serving as possible to prevent the frosting from drying out or melting. However, if needed, a cake can be frosted with buttercream a day or two in advance and stored in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Allow the cake to come to room temperature for about an hour before serving.
