What Is Meant By Refried Beans?
Refried beans are a traditional Mexican dish made by cooking and mashing cooked beans, typically pinto or black beans, with a variety of seasonings and often some bacon or lard. Despite its name, refried beans are not actually fried twice but rather cooked, mashed and lightly fried once. The resulting mixture is thick and creamy, and often used as a staple ingredient in a variety of dishes such as burritos, tacos, tostadas, and dip.
