At What Age Can You Tell If A Chicken Is A Rooster?
You can usually tell the sex of a chicken at around 6-8 weeks of age. At this point, the combs (the red, fleshy appendages on top of their heads) and wattles (the flaps of skin hanging from their necks) will be more developed in males (roosters) compared to females (hens). Additionally, males will typically have pointy saddle feathers, while females have rounder tail feathers.
