Does A Margarita Have To Have Lime?
While lime is the traditional ingredient in a margarita, it doesn’t necessarily have to have lime. Margaritas can be made with a variety of different fruit juices such as grapefruit, watermelon, or even strawberry, and still be considered a margarita as long as they contain tequila, triple sec, and some form of sour or citrus flavoring. However, lime is still the most common and widely accepted flavor for a classic margarita.
