Is A Calzone Just A Folded Pizza?
A calzone is similar to a pizza in the sense that it’s made with pizza dough and typically filled with tomato sauce, cheese, and various toppings such as meats, vegetables or herbs. However, a calzone is essentially a folded or sealed pizza. It has a half-moon shape and is filled with ingredients before being folded over and baked, giving it a crispy outer shell. While a pizza is typically served flat and cut into slices, a calzone is usually served as a whole, with the filling inside.
