How Do You Safely Defrost Chicken?
The safest way to defrost chicken is to place it in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours before cooking. If you don’t have that much time, you can also defrost chicken in the microwave or in a bowl of cold water (changing the water every 30 minutes) until it’s fully thawed. It’s important to never defrost chicken at room temperature or in hot water, as this can promote bacterial growth and increase the risk of foodborne illness.
